NYFW Fall 2017: Nine Designers to Note

There is a lot more than fashion on the conversation this fashion month. Politics, runways vs. presentations, buy now/wear now, Brexit, etc. Social media has propelled this industry into massive reorganization, or rather, disorganization. Although things are sure to fall into place eventually, this bumpy transition is not boding well for the industry as a whole.

Which leads us back to NYFW. Many designers are using the runway to send a political message, while others are taking a stand against runways altogether and opting for more intimate presentations. Runways, often swarming with celebrities, are becoming more like performances, be it music, dance, et al, all with the goal of catching our attention long enough to Instagram. With all of these things abuzz, it feels as though the actual product has taken a back seat. Out of over 130 designers, only a select few delivered a clear message through their clothing. And. Here. They. Are:

1. The Row

2. Marc Jacobs

3. Altuzarra

4. Delpozo

5. Diane Von Furstenberg

6. Novis

7. Rosie Assoulin

8. Alena Akhmadullina

9. Libertine
